As global attention is focused on refugees and migrants, people displaced within their own countries have gone mostly unreported – which makes their suffering invisible to the eyes of the world. Together, we can make basic protection, human rights, and simple necessities available for these Invisible Citizens.
About this campaign: The war in Syria and other global crises in recent years have focused media and world leaders’ attention on refugees and migrants. Largely unnoticed, however, is the plight of 40 million people forcibly displaced within borders across the globe. These internally displaced persons are often among the world’s most vulnerable people, stripped of their rights and lacking the basic protections afforded to refugees. They are our #InvisibleCitizens. To raise global awareness of the plight of invisible citizens, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) have launched ‘Unavailable Content’ - a campaign aimed at igniting a global conversation and action in support of internally displaced people everywhere.
